On 6/24/11, Ms Afrykayn Moon was told to stop nursing her newborn on the bus. The driver, a
woman, working for Oakland SMART transit in Michigan, actually pulled the bus to a stop, all the while passengers were saying the driver needed to drive they didn’t want to be late to work, called dispatch and the police. Long story short the mom held her ground, continued nursing her baby and rode the bus to her final stop.BREASTFEEDING NURSE-IN TO HELP SHOW OUR SUPPORT TO Ms Moon who the driver tried to throw off the bus, it will be FRIDAY JULY 1 AT 9AM AT OAKLAND COUNTY SMART BUS TERMINAL IN MICHIGAN. We will show the SMART bus staff that we breastfeeding mommies stick together and most importantly educate them.
If you are not currently lactating you can still come and show your support by having signs. This will be a peaceful educational event. Your support is needed and welcomed!
