I am truly being blessed while working on my book, But God. I have received an awesome response from many women regarding the need for a book such as this. I know that God placed this vision inside of me and it feels good to receive confirmation, encouragement and support from others as well.
I am being tremendously blessed by reading all of the testimony submissions. I am honored that so many women have trusted me with their story. Most people are very private and don’t like to share intimate details about their lives. I know that for some, the decision to submit their testimony was very difficult. Many haven’t shared these details about their past with others or dealt with the emotions behind the events in a long while. Just because were delivered doesn’t mean sometimes negative emotions don’t try to come back. In those moments we speak the word over ourselves and claim the victory once more.
I appreciate each of the women for being open to the Holy Ghost and obedient to submit their testimonies. These women understand that they aren’t airing their dirty laundry, their giving God the glory, stumping on the devils head and helping to set others free!!
John 8:36 (Amplified Bible)
So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free.
I wanted to take a minute and define the word testimony.
The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines Testimony as:
A firsthand authentication of a fact : evidence b : an outward sign c : a solemn declaration usually made orally by a witness under oath in response to interrogation by a lawyer or authorized public official
3 a : an open acknowledgment b : a public profession of religious experience.
A testimony can be an amazing and drama filled story or it can be a short and simple yet very powerful story. The fact that God woke each of us up this morning means that each of us has a testimony. If you are reading this that means you have eyes and can see. If you can comprehend what you are reading, that means your brain is functioning correctly.
Now that were clear on the definition, here is the update. 38 bold women have submitted their testimony. The final deadline for submissions is this Sunday 4/11/10. 38 Christian women of all different ages, back grounds, denominations, multiple races, careers and locations throughout the world. One of the testimonies came all the way from Africa! My coworker lives in Africa and is doing missions work with her husband. She actually was the first lady to submit her story!! Each ladies story has helped my faith to grow and reminded me of how awesome our God is.
You never know what people have gone through. You can’t tell by looking at someone that they have experienced some major struggles and set backs in life BUT GOD. To read where some of the ladies used to be mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically and see how strong, victorious and confident they are in themselves and the things of God today is AWESOME AND AMAZING! There is truly NOTHING impossible for our God!
Some of the testimonies in the book are praise reports on how women started their own businesses, ministries, remained virgins till married and their success regarding motherhood. Other topics are heavy and intense such as rape, abortion, incest, domestic violence, miscarriages, attempted suicide, depression and food addictions.
No matter what people may be facing, the purpose of the book is to let them know that they are NOT alone and Jesus loves them and died so that they do not have to be alone, afraid or defeated!!! I know what it feels like to feel alone, ashamed, afraid, angry, bitter and confused. I didn’t have many Christian books available to me in 2002 on sexual assault or restoration. (I was assaulted in 2000 on my campus.) I sought counseling and read secular books about sexual violence but they didn’t have the powerful word of God in them to help me become whole again. That is what I want this book to be. A tool to be used towards people’s break through!
A message to those that are currently going through
If you are currently going through something, please remember that God loves you and He is faithful. Please get in your word and prayer closet. Seek out the support of those around you and don’t suffer in silence. The enemy wants each of us to live in secret and shame. He wants us to cut ourselves off from those that love us and can help us. He wants us to mask our pain through sex, substance abuse, tv, food, work etc. Dont let the devil steal your joy or keep you bound. If you need godly counsel, I encourage you to talk to your pastor, a counselor and other believers that you trust around you. Give it to God because he wants you to be free so that you can help free others.
Psalms 34:18 (Amplified Bible)
18The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent.
Psalms 147:3 (Amplified Bible)
3He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows].
